Arm and Leg Lifting Surgery

Arm and Leg lifting are the ideal solution that addresses sagging problems and restores the arms’ and legs’ aesthetic appeal to the body.

WHAT IS ARM AND LEG LIFT OPERATION?

Over time, sagging and cracks may appear on our arms and legs due to the loss of elasticity of our skin or genetic predisposition. Sagging and cracks not only look bad aesthetically, but also cause some problems for the person. Arm and leg lifting surgery is an effective method used to prevent deformation in these areas and to provide the person with a younger and more dynamic appearance.

There are many reasons that lead to arms sagging, such as aging, severe obesity followed by weight loss, eating many unhealthy foods that allow fat to accumulate in different areas of the body; also, there are hormonal causes that may lead to sagging in the arms, such as increased oestrogen in women during pregnancy and childbirth.

Although sagging and cracks can be resolved without the need for surgery in some people, it is mandatory for others. The sagging in the inner parts of the legs begin to irritate the skin by rubbing each other after a while. In such cases, the operation becomes necessary.

AM I A SUITABLE CANDIDATE?

  • Significant weight loss through Bariatric Surgery or lifestyle changes often leaves behind redundant, sagging upper arm skin or skin folds in various parts of the body.
  • Exercise will help tone and tighten the underlying muscles, but will not help reduce the sagging skin that has resulted from the weight changes.
  • Brachioplasty however is not intended to take the place of exercise regimes or healthy eating. A good candidate must be at a stable weight and should have no underlying health issues.

HOW IS ARM LIFT OPERATION PERFORMED?

The operation, which is much simpler than the operation, does not require hospitalization, after which it is recommended to use a special corset for 3-4 days.

    • Excess skin is reduced from the inner section of the arms. Incisions run from the armpit area to variable lengths towards the elbow.
    • If the excess skin extends past the armpit and onto the chest wall, the incision is extended to incorporate this (an Extended Brachioplasty).
    • Liposuction is often used in combination with Brachioplasty surgery to reduce excess fatty tissue from the under and outer surfaces of the arm. Sometimes Liposuction may also precede the arm lift surgery.
    • The incision edges are then closed using stitches that are beneath the skin (dissolvable sutures, so that they do not need to be removed).
    • Scars can take from 12-18 months to mature, but this can vary from patient to patient.

HOW IS LEG LIFT OPERATION PERFORMED?

Leg lift surgery is performed under general anesthesia.

The operation, which starts with an incision made from the groin to the back, is completed by removing excess skin and tissue and suturing the incision line.

Stitches are usually hidden in the groin area, the inner part of the leg or the crease under the buttocks.

Usually, thin drains are used during the surgery and these drains are removed the next day. The operation takes about 2 hours.

The patient can stand up on the same day. Usually, one day of hospitalization is applied for control purposes.

After the leg stretching surgery, strong painkillers are applied to the patient to make the process comfortable. Thus, the level of pain that the patient will feel is minimized.

RECOVERY PROCESS

ARM LIFT SURGERY

The first few days after the operation are usually mildly painful, and over time, the pain and swelling begin to decrease. You can return to daily life in a few days. Stitches are removed in the second week of the surgery. Driving should be avoided for the first two weeks and heavy sports should be avoided for 3-4 months.

The final result will be visible in 3-6 months. In order for the results of arm lift surgery to be more effective and satisfying, it is performed together with liposuction.

LEG LIFT SURGERY

It takes about two weeks for the patient to recover and return to his daily life. The moistness of the operation area makes the dressing applied for the healing of wounds more important. Daily dressings should be carried out without interruption and with care. Otherwise, the healing process will be prolonged. Swelling in the operation area starts to recover after 1 week. Stitches are removed in the second week of the surgery. Driving should be avoided for the first two weeks and heavy sports should be avoided for 3-4 months.

The final result will be visible in 3-6 months. If necessary, liposuction can also be performed together with leg stretching surgery.
