Each IVF seeking client is different. Therefore, following the consultation process with our doctors, you will be required to complete a number of tests to determine the most suitable IVF method for you. In summary, steps of IVF can be summarised as follows;
Stimulation of the Eggs
Obtaining as many eggs as possible by stimulating the ovaries is the basis of treatment. This process varies from person to person, it takes about 10-12 days. In this process, drug levels should be adjusted according to the person and situation by performing ultrasonography every 2-3 days.
Collecting the Eggs
Egg growth in women occurs once a month. The collection is done 34-36 hours after the injection. Between 1 and 40 eggs are collected from the ovaries with an ultrasound-guided needle. The patient is discharged a few hours after the procedure, which takes about 30 minutes.
Retrieval of Sperm
A sperm sample is requested from the male candidate to ascertain whether the sperm is suitable. If there is no sperm in the semen, sperm is surgically removed from the ovaries. In the laboratory, sperm are separated from the semen.
Fertilization of Eggs
Eggs that are fertilized in the laboratory turn into embryos after around 12-15 hours. After this, embryo development is followed and the day is planned to ensure its transplant to the expectant mother on the appropriate day.
Embryo Transfer
Embryos should be transferred within 2 days after fertilization. Embryo numbers to be transferred is decided by the age of the expectant mother, previous attempts and embryo quality. Couples can leave the hospital as soon as the transfer is done. Two weeks after the procedure, the expectant mother is supplemented with progesterone or estrogen hormone which aids the process.
Pregnancy Test
Two weeks after the transfer, the expectant mother undergoes a pregnancy test. If the test is positive, an ultrasound control is performed 10 days later.
